Once in a while, I’ll be asked for site recommendations for getting up to speed on things and/or blogs focused on different aspects of technology. I thought I’d take a few minutes to point out the microsoft sharepoint blogs that I’ve been visiting…
1. http://www.sharepoint-tips.com/ – Sharepoint MVP Ishai Sagi has been working with Sharepoint since 2001. After reading his site for a while, it’s not really so much a “sharepoint blog” so much as a “sharepoint stream of consciousness”. Some excellent tips and advice on pretty much everything Sharepoint.
2. http://blogs.technet.com/wbaer/ – Bill Baer is the technical product manager for Sharepoint 2007 in the US. I hit his blog regularly because he’s created an excellent “goto” resource for Sharepoint information within the Microsoft company realm. He gathers some questions and answers from customers, as well as pointing out any relevant technical discoveries made by the team.
3. http://www.heathersolomon.com/blog/articles/brandsppart1.aspx – Heather Solomon has put together some fantastic pieces on designing / customizing the Sharepoint skin, so that all of your MOSS sites don’t “look like Sharepoint”. Some great tips here.
4. http://sharepointsolutions.blogspot.com/ – Sharepoint Solutions Team Blog. This crew of Sharepoint consulting services have put together a treasure trove of information. Yes, there’s some “high level” abstraction pieces, but most of the discussion is chock full of technical goodness. This gang helps you strip away the layers to really get your sharepoint mojo going.
5. http://drewmace.blogspot.com/2009/05/set-up-dhcp-server.html – Drew has setup some content a bit more focused on overall Microsoft technologies vs. a specific focus on Sharepoint. I find it’s a good place to visit to perhaps “refamiliarize” yourself with the other pieces that your MOSS architecture has to deal with.
What about you? Do you have any favorites? I’m sure there’s a ton of excellent Sharepoint material out there that I haven’t mentioned (yet).
